English Learner Advisory Committee - ELAC

What is ELAC?
The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is intended for Commonwealth parents or guardians of English Learners to advise the Principal and school staff on programs and services for English Language Learners. At the meetings, information is disseminated to parents regarding current school activities and programs. ELAC also provides training opportunities for parents to support their child’s language development at home. 

Membership:
According to the ELAC bylaws, at least 51% of the membership belongs to parents of English Language Learners. The remaining percentage includes any other interested parents of Commonwealth School. All members of ELAC serve for two-year terms, commencing in September. Currently, 52% of students in grades TK-6 are English Learners.
